Cyclist dies after hit by van

A cyclist was travelling in the middle of the road, on Highway 9 between Netley and Kreamer Road, just after midnight July 20. The driver of the van, a 69-year-old from Selkirk, did not have any injuries as a result of the collision. However, the 25-year-old cyclist from Winnipeg was pronounced dead on scene. The RCMP?s investigation revealed the cyclist was not wearing a helmet, and the driver of the van was not intoxicated. An RCMP press release stated it was not known if the cyclist was impaired. The name of the cyclist will not be released, and the RCMP continue to investigate. - Compiled by A.Lefley
